I hope this will stop the spam until we have a better solution (captcha?)

I was afk, so i was suprised someone took it off already
Of course spam can also happen with the 2 points, so nice to know that some others can fight it too.

Fortunately I was'nt alone. It started at 9 am or something like that but someone else already removed the posts. I was able to clean up the forums at around 11 am and this midday. Having a smartphone is quite convenient...

A minimum point level should help. I doubt a spam bot will bother to solve a challenge
If that isn't enough, I've been pretty happy with Akismet in the past. It does a pretty good job at identifying spam. It is mostly associated with blogs but the API itself seems pretty indifferent to that fact, and the API is key is very reasonably priced.

They moved to PMs, using at least user "fancyfancy". No score limit for those apparently.

It is possible to configure PM limits by score.
I have now set it to 1 as base, and +1 for each 1000 points.
Sadly, a value of 0 for base seems to disable the restrictive function completely.
So a user with 1000 points will be able to send two pm per day.
A user with 0 points will be able to send one pm per day.
Additionally i have blacklisted the email that was used by the bots to signup and marked all the users from this email provider as deleted.
The affected email provider is @163.com

Just got PM spam from "discountgoose".
1 message per day per user means they only need to register 10.000 accounts to send out 10.000 spam messages per day
